The Oaks
Parent-Child Workshop
Play-Based and Joyful
Early Childhood Education
Educating children and families since 1947.
Families who join The Oaks will be joining generations of Santa Barbara families who chose to participate in a cooperative school, with the goals of learning more about child development and parenting, becoming a part of a nurturing and supportive community, and having a hand in creating a responsive and stimulating learning environment for their preschool children.
PARENT PARTICIPATION
Central to our program is the notion that parents are a child’s first teachers. Under the guidance of early childhood educators, Oak's parents work and learn how to be more effective parents, from each other and the children. Learn more about parent participation.

AFTERNOON PROGRAM

MORNING PROGRAM
Our play-based program invites children to follow their curiosity.
On your workday, parents create engaging stations, and the children are free to choose what excites them. Mixed-age learning enables children to learn from and with one another, while our outdoor classroom provides ample space for movement, discovery, and joyful play.

AFTERNOON PROGRAM
Our afternoon program runs in complement to our morning program, to provide seamless, full-day care for families in our warm and nurturing environment. The afternoon program supports a smaller group of children, accompanied by a head teacher and assistant teacher.
Parent participation is not required. Learn more about our afternoon program.
